Rug Cleaning Prices in Chicagoland

Most rug cleaners won't put a number on a page. We will. Below is what we actually charge — so you can work out roughly what your rug will cost before you pick up the phone, and so nothing on the invoice is a surprise.

Cleaning rates by fiber

Cleaning is priced per square foot, because a 9'x12' takes more of everything than a 4'x6'. What the rug is made of changes the rate, because silk and viscose need slower, gentler handling than wool.

A phone quote is an estimate, not a commitment.

We price from what you tell us — size, fiber, condition — and a rug can look different once it's in front of us. Older dyes, a backing we can't see in a photo, or damage under the pile all change the job. The number we give you over the phone is our honest best guess. The firm price comes after we've seen the rug, and if it's going to be more than we said, you'll hear it from us before we start work, never after.

Why there's a minimum. A 2'x3' rug goes through the same seven steps as a 9'x12' — inspection, dusting, washing, rinsing, drying, grooming, final check. The floor covers that work. It's why very small rugs cost more per square foot than large ones.

Treatments that add to the rate

Heavy soiling and pet stains — add $1 to $2 per square foot. Pet urine in particular needs to be flushed out rather than masked, and that means extra passes and longer drying. We'll tell you which band your rug falls into when we see it, not after.

Pickup and delivery

$75 for pickup and return across most of Chicagoland. $120 for longer distances or difficult jobs — many flights of stairs, oversized rugs, awkward access. That covers both directions, and we move the furniture and re-lay the rug when it comes home.

You're welcome to drop the rug off at the showroom instead and skip this entirely.

Color run and dye bleed — read this before you ask

If the dyes in your rug have bled — usually after a spill, a home carpet machine, or a well-meant scrub — we can sometimes correct it. Sometimes. It is a slow, chemical process, it doesn't always work, and how far it improves depends on the dye, the fiber and how long the bleed has been sitting.

Here is our honest position: bring it to us and we'll look at it. If we think it's fixable, we'll take it on and do our best work. But we won't promise a result and we won't quote a firm price on it up front, because anyone who does is guessing. If we don't think it can be improved, we'll tell you that and save you the money.

What's included at no extra charge

Dusting before the wash, hand-washing in our own facility, thorough rinsing, flat drying, grooming the pile, and a final inspection. Ten to fourteen days from collection to return. If your rug also needs fringe or edge work, it's cheapest to do while it's already with us — we'll quote that separately and tell you when a repair isn't worth doing.

Why hand-washing costs more than carpet cleaning

A carpet-cleaning service brings a machine to your floor. We do the opposite — your rug comes to our facility and is washed by hand, one at a time. Machine steam cleaning on wool or silk drives dirt deeper into the foundation and can set stains permanently. It's cheaper on the day and more expensive over the life of the rug.
