What Rug Cleaning Costs in Chicagoland
“How much does rug cleaning cost?” is the first question everyone asks — and any company that answers with one number before seeing your rug is guessing. Here's what actually determines the price, so you know what you're paying for, and why a two-minute call gets you an exact quote.
What determines the price
Size — cleaning is priced by the square foot, so an 8'x10' costs more than a 5'x8'. Material — wool is the baseline; silk, viscose and bamboo-silk need gentler, slower handling and cost more. Condition — set-in stains, pet accidents and odor treatment take extra passes. Repairs — if the fringe or edges need attention, it's cheapest to do while the rug is already in our facility. That's the whole formula — no hidden add-ons.
Why hand-washing costs more than carpet cleaning — and is worth it
A carpet-cleaning service brings a machine to your floor. We do the opposite: your rug comes to our own facility, where it's dusted, hand-washed, rinsed and dried flat — the way handmade rugs were meant to be cleaned. Machine “steam cleaning” on a wool or silk rug drives dirt deeper and can set stains permanently. Hand-washing takes 10 to 14 days and removes what machines leave behind.
What's included in every cleaning
Pickup and delivery across Chicagoland, moving the furniture, dusting before the wash, hand-washing and flat drying, and re-laying the rug exactly where it was — all part of the job, not extras. See the full process on our rug cleaning page.
