Custom Stair Runners — Measured, Made & Installed by Us
One shop does all three. That's why the pattern never breaks on the turn.
The same staircase — bare oak, then a hand-made wool runner, installed by us.
Why a stair runner
Bare wood stairs are loud, slippery and cold. A wool runner fixes all three — quieter steps, real grip underfoot for kids, pets and grandparents, and a staircase that looks finished instead of forgotten. And because ours are made to order, the runner fits your staircase; your staircase doesn't adapt to a stock size.
What we make
- Any width — cut and finished for your treads, not the standard 27" only.
- Curved, L-shaped and landing staircases — patterns matched through every turn, no breaks.
- Wool and wool-silk — naturally stain-resistant and made for decades of traffic.
- Your colors — most designs can be re-colored on our looms to match your home.
- Hallway runners to match — one design flowing from the stairs down the hall.

Stair words, in plain English
- Riser — the front face of a step; its height is how tall each step is. Most homes: about 7 to 7½ inches.
- Tread — the flat part your foot lands on. Most homes: about 10 inches deep.
- Nosing — the rounded front edge of a step that curls over the one below. Most stairs have it.
- Landing — the flat platform partway up where the stairs pause or change direction.
If any of this sounds confusing, skip it entirely — we measure every staircase ourselves, free of charge, before anything is made. The calculator below is only to give you a working number for your first visit or call.
A stair runner isn't bought by the roll — it's made for your stairs. The length depends on how many steps you have, how deep each tread is, whether the edges are rounded, and whether the staircase turns or pauses at a landing.
Use the calculator to get a working estimate for your staircase. It's the number to have in hand when you visit the showroom or call us — it lets us talk real options and real wool from the first minute.
We measure your staircase ourselves, free of charge — including curved runs and landings — so the runner fits perfectly and the installation is ours to guarantee. Call (630) 324-6567.

What does a stair runner cost?
It depends on three things: the length your staircase needs, the material you choose, and the complexity of the turns. That's why we measure first, free — so the quote is real, not a guess. Call (630) 324-6567, or use the calculator above for a length estimate to bring with you.
Common questions
Can you do curved staircases?
Yes — curved, L-shaped, pie steps and landings. We measure every turn and match the pattern through it. It's most of what we install.
How long does it take?
Typically 2–4 weeks from consultation to installation. Many long runners are in stock and can start immediately; higher-density custom pieces take longer — we give you a real date before you commit.
Wool or synthetic?
Wool. It grips better, wears for decades instead of years, and hides everyday traffic. It's what we make, and it's what we'd put in our own homes.
Do you include padding?
Yes — premium padding is part of every installation, for comfort, durability and safety.
Do you install runners bought elsewhere?
Call us — it depends on the piece. And if a runner needs shortening first, our rug resizing service handles that in-house.
