Most carpet cleaners run a rug through the same machine they use on wall-to-wall carpet. We don't. At Cassim Rug Gallery we clean rugs the way they are made to be cleaned — by hand, in our facility, one rug at a time.
We clean handmade rugs of every kind: hand-knotted Persian, Turkish and oriental rugs, wool, silk, wool-and-silk, viscose and bamboo silk, cotton, jute and alpaca. Antique and heirloom pieces are welcome; we handle them the way we'd handle our own.

Inspection
We check the material, the dyes, and any problem areas — stains, moth damage, loose ends — and tell you what to expect before we start.

Dusting
Dry soil is the enemy of a rug. We remove it before any water touches the fibers, using tools that lift the grit without stressing the knots.

Washing
Each rug is washed by hand with gentle cleaners chosen for its fiber and age. Silk, viscose and antique rugs get their own treatment; nothing goes through a machine.

Stain and odor treatment
Pet accidents, red wine, food, water marks. We treat them in the wash rather than masking them. Most come out completely; if something is permanent, we tell you before we start, not after.

Rinse and dry
Thorough rinsing with clean water, then drying in the sun and air, the traditional way, so no residue is left in the pile.

Finish
We brush and groom the pile, inspect the rug again, and return it looking the way it did the day it was made.

No. Hand-washing with the right cleaner for the fiber is the gentlest way to clean a handmade rug — far gentler than a steam cleaner or a home carpet machine, which can cause dye bleeding and shrinkage. We manufacture rugs, so we know exactly what each fiber can take.
